Former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been appointed as the new manager of Burnley Football Club. Kompany left his previous role at Belgian club Anderlecht to take over the Championship winners.
Kompany will make his return to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, when Burnley face his former club Manchester City in a pre-season friendly. It will be a poignant moment for the Belgian, who spent 11 successful years at City, winning four Premier League titles.
Burnley won the Championship title last season with a record-breaking 101 points. Kompany will be tasked with guiding the Clarets back to the Premier League after their relegation in 2021.
