F1 Spanish Grand Prix: Verstappen Extends Lead with Barcelona Victory

Norris Impresses with Second-Place Finish

Lando Norris will start the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix from pole position. Verstappen extends his lead to 69 points though Norris moves up to second place. Verstappen took victory at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya after pole-sitter Charles Leclerc retired with an engine problem. Norris finished second, with George Russell completing the podium.

Verstappen's victory was his fifth of the season and extends his lead in the drivers' championship to 69 points. Norris' second-place finish moves him up to second in the standings, while Leclerc's retirement drops him to third.

The race was a thrilling affair, with plenty of overtaking and drama. Verstappen made a great start and quickly took the lead from Leclerc. Norris also made a strong start, moving up to second place. Leclerc stayed close behind Verstappen for much of the race, but he was unable to challenge for the lead. On lap 27, Leclerc's engine blew up, forcing him to retire from the race.

Verstappen was able to control the race from that point on, and he eventually took the victory by a comfortable margin. Norris finished second, with Russell completing the podium.
